Over the last few decades, the term anxiety has come with bad connotations.  In some cases this is unwarranted because anxiety is a natural human reaction.  The natural occurrence of anxiety can aid us in our dealings with potential threats supplying us with adrenaline when we most need it.  With that being said, some reactions can form what’s known as a panic attack anxiety disorder.

Some emotions that befall sufferers of a panic attack anxiety disorder range from nervousness to terror.  In a majority of cases these disorders are treatable with medication and therapy.  A few questions arise as to how someone can know whether they are suffering from a panic attack anxiety disorder or not.  Well, some of the symptoms can include but are not limited to: chest pains, labored breathing, fast heartbeat, nausea, dizziness and uncontrollable thoughts that persist for no apparent reason.  Of course you’ll want to seek the advice of a professional before trying to diagnose this yourself.

Many of us have things that make us afraid in our day to day lives.  To some of us though, these fears are a little more than we can handle.  Some people know these fears by a different name, phobias.  There are many types of phobias that people are diagnosed with.  A prime example is Arachnophobia or the fear of spiders.  A second example would be Agoraphobia or the fear of open places.  Panic and anxiety attacks share many of the same symptoms as phobias.

A popular form of anxiety disorder that is common with trauma patients is known as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.  This disorder also known as PTSD, happens after an individual experiences, participates or witnesses and event such as war, torture, death or any form of other traumatic circumstances.  This disorder can be characterized by acute anxiety or panic attacks and unrelenting nightmares.  Individuals with this condition have problems concentrating and sleeping at night.  This again is an example of an extreme case of a panic attack anxiety disorder.

Investigating what may have lead to a panic attack is a great start to finding help for them.  You may also want to consider when and where the incident occurred as it may have something to do with the cause.  With our advances in psychological and drug therapy, many are now finding relief to this debilitating condition.  Living your life in fear is a thing of the past.  With all the help that is out there, you’ll be back to your old self in no time.
